Why can't I get over this guy?

I'm usually very good at getting over guys but I just can't get over him. It has literally been over a year. Last year this guy liked me for about 6 months but I wasn't sure of my feelings and then I had a boyfriend for a little while and after all of that he still really liked me and I liked him but nothing happened. He went to camp over the summer to be a counselor and we couldn't talk as much so when he got back in August I decided to tell him that I really liked him and he said he liked me too but then the next day he said he wasn't in a place where he wanted a girlfriend which I was fine with me but then nothing ever happened. I just feel like I really missed out on something. I've never liked someone as much as I've liked him and he's seriously everything I look for in a guy but it'll never happen. He's completely over me. I just can't seem to get over him no matter how much I try and he's going to college in the fall and I'll be a senior so it's not like we would have made it past this point anyway. I just need to get over him and I don't know how.
