Is it ok to rip a DVD to my computer even if i own the DVD.?

Is is legal for me to rip a DVD to my computer since i own the original DVD. I own the original DVD disc and all, i was wondering if it would be ok for me to do and use the rip copy of the DVD for my use only. As long as i don't distribute copies of the movie i am ok in that sense. But i want to watch the movie on my computer without the disc. Can i do this without getting into any legal trouble?
