What should i tell my 9 year old about where her aunt went?

My sister was living with us she came up from missouri we live in michigan so I didn't know she was on the run well the cops came to talk to my neijbor about something and saw her run in the house I guess she looked guilty so he came to my door I wasn't home. He asked to look thru the house and she was hiding under the bed. So she is in jail and going to be tranfered back to missouri. She took off from a halfway house so she is going to do some time. But here's my issue my daughter keeps asking where her aunt went I told her she had to go somewhere a while. That is not going to be enough for her for long. I am not going to tell her that she's in jail. What would you tell a kids to not scare her or make her hate her aunt. It was drug charges. That she was running from if that makes a difference.
