Where should I stay? Carson City, Reno, or Tahoe?

Next month I'm planning on driving from the Bay Area to visit my grandparents for a couple days who have retired to Carson City, NV. I am in my early 20's and I am going to be going during the week to save money on a hotel. I may stay with my grandparents for one night but I want a couple nights to party it up/gamble for free drinks while im out there. I may also wanna check out some night clubs too. I am wondering where to stay. Ive been to each city several times as a kid but ive never gotten to see the nightlife of any of these cities. Ive been to Vegas 3 times since turning 21 (im almost 23 now) and i love it. i know none of these towns will be even close, but i just wanna know where will be crackin the most during the week (ugh i refuse to even go to vegas during the week). i almost wanna stay in carson city cuz of the much shorter commute, but im wondering if its worth my while to stay in reno or tahoe and have a better time?
